As the name suggests, when water flows through the inhibitor, it crosses a magnetic field. This causes the tiny crystals to adhere to each other altering their shape and size rendering them less likely to attach to plumbing.

Unfortunately the attraction is not permanent, and wears off very quickly when water is stored for any length of time. For this reason we recommend that our Magnetic Inhibitors should not be selected for whole house protection.
