In the U.K 60% of our water supply could be classed as hard
resulting in the problems associated with limescale.
Electric
showers are rather similar in design to electric kettles and
therefore suffer the same fate with regard to limescale. However
unlike a kettle where scale may be removed relatively easily,
electric showers usually need replacing when scaled up with
impaired performance prior to that. Softline showers have been
carefully designed to stand the rigors of hard water and feature
the following :

Proof
The water heater is encased in a splash proof tough
white moulded polymer to BS3456 standard.
Thermal
Safety Cut-Out
If for any reason there is a sudden rise in temperature,
the shower has a built-in thermal safety cut-out.
Temperature
Stabilisation
To ensure that the water temperature remains near constant,
even if taps are turned on elsewhere in the building,
the flow stabiliser valve compensates for pressure variations.
Guarantee
2 year guarantee covering malfunction due to limescale,
plus 3 or five year low cost option.

Requirements
All wiring must comply with current IEE regulations. The shower
must be permanently connected to the electrical supply through
a double pole linked switch with a minimum contact gap of
3mm and a minimum break capacity of 40amps (varies
by KW rating please see fitting instructions for specific
model).
